Master of Science
Environmental Science

Welcome to one of the most unique graduate programs in the sciences. This is a course of study which requires you to undertake advanced education in many disciplines, including biology, chemistry, geology, and environmental law and policy.

The purpose of the graduate program is to prepare graduates who can deal effectively with the increasing problems and questions related to environmental matters and in planning for the restoration and maintenance of environmental quality in the face of population and industrial growth. Although the majority of our graduates will become employed in the private sector (industry and consulting) or regulatory agencies, the graduate program is also designed to prepare students who wish to pursue a doctoral degree in the various disciplines contained in environmental science.

The graduate degree program in Environmental Science at Columbus State University provides advanced training through pursuit of applied research, scholarly inquiry and creative endeavors. The majority of program research is supported by local agencies and is focused upon local concerns and regional environmental issues and improving the quality of life in the region.

"Our ideals, laws and customs should be based on the proposition that each generation in turn becomes the custodian rather than the absolute owner of our resources - and each generation has the obligation to pass this inheritance on to the future." - Alden Whitman
